In the game of self improvement, healing and growth, inspiration is what we’re really after. It’s what motivates our continual pursuit of everything we’ve wanted to do in life but lacked the determination or discipline to actualize. We’ve all experienced those moments when we felt inspired in our past. Like for me an example would be walking out of a really good movie feeling deeply inspired as if I had the potential to become that hero in the movie (or that in many ways, I secretly already was).
What is that feeling about? It’s super powerful. Imagine having more of that feeling in your life on a regular basis. What would that be like? Can you imagine what you could accomplish if you were to live from that energy? What ideas right now are just waiting to be birthed? This is what I mean when I talk of the infinite potentiality we all are. It’s in there, always.. it’s just covered up and masked by all the illusions and constraints that have been programmed into our sub-conscious.
In many ways, I believe this is the ultimate struggle in our growth.
There’s this constant push and pull between what we know we “should” be doing and what our habitual selves would rather do instead (binge Netflix, eat crappy food, etc). It’s only until we become inspired by something bigger than ourselves that we’re driven to think, act, and be in a totally different way, without apology (For more on this, check out this post).
Inspiration is also one of the precursors for creation and expression. Whether we realize it or not, deep down we all want to be creators in life, because that’s what God actually is.. pure creation. And we are all like mini Gods in this reality, just waiting to realize our true nature as the ultimate creator. So how do we get inspired to heal, create, and grow beyond the suffering which we’re trapped in?
Everything is a data input
You can view everything you experience in this reality as data/information. There are certain sensory inputs in your life right now that are actively keeping you stagnant, safe, and uninspired to change. These can be relationships with certain people (friends, family, etc), the social media/news/movies/tv/music we regularly consume or the types of environments we’re surrounded by.. just to name a few examples. These are all toxic, low-vibration data inputs that are constantly programming and reinforcing your own limitations.
As an exercise, try writing down a list of things in your life you feel are currently holding you back, making you feel too safe/comfortable or are just simply uninspiring. We can all come up with a good list of at least 10 significant things regardless of where we are on our path. For me in this moment, my list would include my living space (house, bedroom, etc), my vehicle’s poor condition, the clutter/cleanliness of my laptop, some of the people I have surrounded myself with, my own fears, etc.
So now with this short list, I can strategically come up with an action plan to one by one remediate these things which keep me in an uninspired state. If my living space or room feels uninspiring to me, I can put intention into cleaning it, organizing it, and decorating it with symbolic objects that together make the energy of the space much more uplifting to me in my everyday. Give it some love and it will give back. Spruce up the space by doing things like changing the layout, buying some plants/flowers, using an essential oil diffuser, salt lamps, simple artwork of nature or maybe inspiring quotes, donating things that no longer feel good or you don’t use anymore, etc.
Taking the time to nurture your environment is extremely beneficial as your environment has a direct impact on the way you think, feel, and behave. So if you’re stuck and not moving forward the way you would like in your growth/healing, start by doing some analysis and inquiry into your current environment and make a list of all the areas you feel can be improved. And have fun with it! The more effort you put into nurturing your immediate environment, the more it has the potential to give back and inspire you in surprising ways.
