The more you know, the more you realize all that which you don’t know (anything really). This is a profound universal truth to life. What we actually know to be true and “real” in our reality is so insanely infantile compared to the enormity of that which we don’t. This is hugely important to grasp, because it ultimately lessens your attachment to your ego, the part of you that is running amok and holding you back from transformational growth.
Think about it. What do you actually know to be true or real.. like actually know with certainty beyond mere explanations/theories that have been given to you? One might say, well I know that the chair I’m sitting on is solid and that it supports me because of gravity.
Well, is that so? Quantum science, which is the most accurate model we have of all of reality today, suggests that the situation is not as it seems. And that’s only what we know today. What about 1000 years from now? Or 10,000 years from now when our understanding makes further quantum leaps? Without going too much into it, basically the reality is much less certain than the obviousness we tend to interpret the act of sitting on chair. It’s a much more.. slippery reality.
This has all kinds of implications on the reality we choose to experience, both known and unknown. The most important of which is the further dissolving of our over-identification with the self or ego (and all the suffering that goes along with that). Through this lens, there is not a worry or problem in the world that cannot be alleviated by reaching new understandings about the reality of such situations.
Like right now for example, I’m personally worried about my future, my health, my purpose in life, how I’m going to achieve all my visions/goals, etc. These are all legitimate problems that have to be dealt with, but how different would it feel if I were to fully employ my respect for the unknown? If I were to fully embrace the fact that I have so much to learn about reality.. and the more understanding I gain, the more clear the solutions will present themselves when I’m ready (the ones I can’t see right now).
Everything is transformable
If you recognized the infinite nature of all that you don’t know, you could at least see that there is so much paradigm-shifting waiting to be discovered that you haven’t even scratched the surface of.. not even close. And I almost want to say.. I don’t care how much you think you’ve “tried” along your path. The limitations we experience right now in this moment, are self imposed.. if we really break them down, most of our limitations can be attributed to our thoughts, perceptions, opinions, fears, expectations, assumptions and existing beliefs; all of which are completely capable of transformation.
But we don’t realize this, because we are so in our heads about our own problems, we can’t even see beyond the profundity of the limitations we’re stuck in. It just seems like it’s always going to be like this. But no, there is more.. so much more to reality than we can even begin to understand intellectually. And this greater reality is happening all around us, right now. Always.
We now know this because we’ve radically grasped the enormity of that which we don’t know (right?). We know that the possibilities are limitless. This excites us. This means that we are always in pursuit of more knowledge and wisdom that will rip us out of our own limitations one by one, slowly slowly over time. Patience is integral to this working. Without it, we will inevitably revert back to identifying with and believing in our own limitations. So much so, that they will become our actual reality once again.
But don’t let that be you. Be humble. Keep your mind open. Don’t dismiss something because it conflicts with your existing beliefs. Remember, you actually know nothing. So you’re inherently more open-minded about everything because you know the potential it has to unlock more of your potential. Stay hungry, because a better version of yourself always awaits around the corner.
