Remember, remember the 5th of November.V
Have you seen this movie, “V for Vendetta”? If not, I highly recommend everyone reading this go watch the movie now (before reading this). If you have seen the movie, I recommend re-watching it again, for the meaning has changed. The analysis I’m about to give is unlike anything you’ve ever read. There is a hidden message beneath this film, and it’s all connected to what’s happening right now in 2020.
To summarize the film, V for Vendetta is about a masked man who single-handedly creates a revolution in a country that has fallen to an authoritarian government. It takes place years after a man-made virus has swept through the globe, killing thousands en masse and creating panic and chaos among the people. The United States has collapsed and is in a state of martial law after a civil war tears the country apart. This instability eventually spreads to other countries, including England where the movie takes place.
Godlessness is blamed for the collapse of the U.S., and in the name of restoring order in England, there are strict quarantine measures to ensure the virus doesn’t spread further. Nightly curfews are enforced by undercover police patrolling the streets, who themselves turn out to be criminals who rape women. The media becomes a weapon for the government to control the people without them realizing it. They use all information streams to create a pandemic of fear, obedience and total control over the minds of the people.
It isn’t until later in the movie that a certain government agent starts putting the pieces together and realizes that the virus was actually created by forces within the government. The purpose? The advancement of an agenda of total control and power over the people. As the story unfolds, the government agent becomes more sympathetic to V’s mission to create a revolution by waking up the people using ideas and symbols.
Now, at this point you may think I’m going to suggest that the same thing is happening today. That this coronavirus is also a man-made virus released by government forces for the same purposes of creating chaos and implementing a planned solution of total control over the people. But I’m not. That’s for you to judge. If you do believe this movie is predictive programming propaganda to get us to more readily accept the situation we’re in, I want you to consider a deeper meaning and purpose beyond that.
What I’m personally most interested in is the part of the movie where Evey has been captured by government agents and thrown in an internment prison where she is held indefinitely until she confesses to the whereabouts of V. In that prison, she is held in solitary confinement and tortured on a regular basis. Her sense of sanity is completely broken down to the point where she still refuses to confess even at the time of her execution, and says “No, thank you. I would rather die.“
As soon as Evey says those words, the show is over. The guard says, “then you have no fear anymore, you’re completely free.” Evey walks away free from her cell, and as she’s looking into the eyes of a mannequin guard she once thought was real, she slowly starts to realize the whole thing was made up. When she re-enters the home of V which was connected to the prison, he confronts her and explains why he did what he did:
V: “You said you wanted to live without fear. I wish there’d been an easier way, but there wasn’t.”
Evey: “You’re sick. You’re evil. Leave me alone, I hate you!”
V: “That’s it! See at first, I thought it was hate too. Hate was all I knew. It built my world, imprisoned me. I thought I’d die with all that hate in my veins. But then something happened. It happened to me just as it happened to you.”
V: “Listen to me, Evey. This may be the most important moment of your life. Commit to it. They took your parents from you. They took your brother from you. They put you in a cell and took everything they could take, except your life. And you believed that was all there was, didn’t you? The only thing you had left was your life, but it wasn’t. You found something else. In that cell you found something that mattered more to you than life. When they threatened to kill you unless you gave them what they wanted… you told them you’d rather die. You faced your death, Evey. You were calm. You were still. Try to feel now what you felt then.”
This right here is what I’m suggesting the movie is all about. What if all the darkness in the world isn’t actually happening to us, but rather for us? What if we could use all our hate, anger and frustration to awaken from the ultimate fear that enslaves us all. We say we want freedom? We must first remove all our fears. All fear is some form of the ultimate fear of death of the self. When we remove that ultimate fear of death, we are free. There is no longer anything to worry about regardless of how dark things become because we no longer have a survival stake in the game. Only in the total absence of fear can love truly flourish. This, and this alone, is the key to surviving a world that’s becoming darker and darker, year after year whether we like it or not. We must face our death. To die, before we die.
It’s from this place that we become powerful. We are no longer pushed and pulled by the happenings of the news or the powers that be. Yes we still want things to be better. But if despite all our efforts things continue to get worse, it’s okay. No matter what worries us in this moment, none of it actually matters. For some it’s Donald Trump. For others it’s the shadowy powers that be. No matter what our worry, the story stays the same. No more clinging to our ideas of right and wrong. No more begging for others to believe in our beliefs. Instead, release. Let it all go. Once we get with that vibe, we will see, counter-intuitively, we will receive everything we’ve been seeking from life this whole time. We will finally be released from our illusory prison cell.
Look at what we’ve become. All we focus on now is the darkness of the world. We complain. We blame. We argue with each other about the reasons we’re in this mess. And for what? Why are we so obsessed? Because we intuitively know that we’re fucking up this whole planet. The end is near, and we can’t handle that reality. And thus we forget about the vast amounts of beauty that still remain. The love that can still be shared in the face of such dire circumstances. It’s easy to be spiritual when things are going well. But the Universe is asking for something more. So let this be a reminder for those who continue to obsess about the latest news events. For God’s sake, switch it off. Don’t let them control your ability to give and receive love to the fullest while you’re still here on this Earth. Because as we saw in V for Vendetta, for all we know, in the final analysis, perhaps that is the balancing purpose of all the darkness of the world.. to get us to finally realize, appreciate and see the light that has been right in front of us all along.
